Castle House – your home in Reykjavik!

Castle House Luxury Apartments – I can’t imagine a more homey yet classy place to stay at in Reykjavik!

We had just come off a long flight from Singapore to Iceland and by the time we had reached the hotel, we were tired. It was late at night, also because we had gone to the Blue Lagoon upon arrival, had dinner there, so by the time we “checked in”, it was 10pm.

Still, it was effortless to check in – they leave the key at the main reception, you just buzz your way in, pick up your key and head to your apartment. We stayed at 2 different apartments – #10 and #50. I prefer the layout of #10 but both feel really homey and very clean and have all the necessities, including bedroom slippers and eye masks/ear plugs!

They also leave a lot of information and magazines for you to read up on stuff to do and places to eat at in the city. Which by the way, during the booking process, they send you an email with lots of useful links that you can research on before your trip.

The location is really superb – every morning you can wake up to a beautiful walk past the lake Tjornin in front of the apartment as you head to your sights. And it’s a near walk to everywhere in Reykjavik. A lot of the good restaurants are also nearby (Fishmarkadurinn, Sushi Samba, KOL), so is the National Museum of Iceland, the Harpa, the harbour, everywhere!

For breakfast, there’s coffee and teas available, so you might want to stock up on some yummy pastries and skyr (awesome Icelandic yoghurt) for your brekkie and enjoy the dining area in your apartment before heading out for the day.

All in all, I would definitely return to stay here if/when I come back to Iceland!
