The Spot Oyster with Ponzu sauce

The Spot – my go-to for delicious dining at great value.

The Spot is one of my favourite dining destinations in Singapore and yet, it has taken me this long to put up an actual post.

I think it’s because it has become so familiar to me that I just share pictures of the fabulous food on Instagram and that’s it.

During the times when we were in “lockdown”, I ordered their takeaway sets, particularly the Bundle for 4 ($98) which sustained my hubby and I for at least 3 dinners, each time! I think we ordered this set 3 times in the past year.

The Family Bundle for 4 (in other words, the 3-night bundle for 2):

The Spot Bundle 3
We usually eat this on the 1st night – Angus Beef Slider “Bao”.
The Spot Prawn Capellini
Prawn Capellini. We normally eat this on the 2nd night. Just drizzle EVOO to moisten it.
The Spot Bundle 1
Lemongrass Chicken Brochette, Pork Cheeks BBQ, Crispy Baby Squid, and a Cheesecake and Lemon Tart for dessert.
The Spot Bundle 2
Pork Belly “Char Siu”, Chicken Confit – usually for the 3rd night.

Now that dining out is back on the cards, we did a spontaneous dinner last week at The Spot. It happened to be the Singapore Restaurant Week’s Winner’s edition (ongoing 5-28 November), and all the times I’ve dined at The Spot, it was always for their set menus. Whether New Years’ Eve (did this in 2020 with another couple and they loved it), Festive specials and so on.

As always, no disappointments whatsoever. Every dish was delicious with lots of spark. Even though I have had some of the same dishes before, the oyster and the short ribs and the chocolate tart, for example, they still reminded me of why I love The Spot so much.

The Spot | Singapore Restaurant Week Winner’s Edition Menu:

The Spot Oyster with Ponzu sauce
Refreshing start with Oyster dressed in ponzu and pomelo sauce.
Foie Gras
Foie Gras de Canard (see that sear!), with red apple and what I think makes the dish – the medjool date which adds sweetness.
The Spot Scallop
Seared Hokkaido Scallop with corn and cheese porridge and turmeric miso hollandaise – scrumptious!
The Spot Beef Short Rib
Asian Beef Short Ribs, fermented cabbage parcel, red cabbage puree – The Spot certainly does short ribs well. Never had a bad one here!
The Spot Pina Colada dessert
Pina Colada dessert with pineapple consomme, steamed meringue and macerated pineapple and mango. Hubby loves the zing.
The Spot Chocolate Tart
But for me, it has to be the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Tart with salted black vinegar caramel and ice cream!

The above menu ($68/pax) runs till 28 November. I look forward to their next dinner tasting menu, meanwhile! NYE there again, maybe?
